Paying tribute to the notorious TV interview that put punk on the map. The new collection takes the infamous FILTH AND THE FURY newspaper headlines and prints them onto classic DM’s silhouettes.
Anarchic, anti-establishment, and punk incarnate. The Sex Pistols short but explosive career was charged with engineered chaos. Kicking down the door of clean-cut pop, the revolutionary band’s entry to the music scene was like an atom splitting.
The first pair of Dr. Martens boots rolled off the production line on the 1st April 1960. With its trademark yellow stitch, grooved sole and heel-loop, it was a boot for workers, initially worn by postmen and policemen; comfortable, durable and lightweight in comparison to its competitors at the time.
As Steve Jones tore into television host Bill Grundy live on-air in 1976, the UK spiralled into outrage. ‘YOU F***ING ROTTER’ was the three-word catalyst that catapulted the Pistol’s career whilst simultaneously ending Grundy’s. As part of Dr Martens' 60th-anniversary celebrations, this new collaboration pays tribute to this iconic moment in British music history.
The 1461 shoe is printed with the front pages that subsequently dominated the British media. Detailed with historical punk imagery and the headlines that documented the day punk blew up, it’s decked out with a black heel loop, sole and laces.
